Online Education Module: Trends and Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity

Trends and Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity [non-CNE Version]

Every maternal death is a tragedy that traumatizes many, including the healthcare workers involved in caring for the mother and baby. When mothers die, it has an enormous impact on partners, children, and communities, and the rate of maternal death is a marker of the overall health of a society.

This 30 minute web-based interactive online education module, developed by the Institute for Perinatal Quality Improvement (PQI), provides interactive web-based education designed for healthcare workers who care for people who are or may become pregnant.

1. describe trends in the rate of maternal mortality and severe morbidity
2. identify the leading causes of pregnancy-related mortality in the prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum phases
