Presenters' Bios

Amy Romano, MBA, MSN, CNM, FACNM:  Amy Romano, MBA, MSN, CNM, FACNM, has spent her career working on maternity care system reform and innovation. Previously she led the development of clinical, wellness, and quality management programs for Baby+Co., a multi-state network of birth centers integrated with regional health systems, and she has published many peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on evidence-based maternity care and system transformation. She is the founder and CEO of Primary Maternity Care, a consulting services company that works across the health care system to strengthen community-based maternity services and integrate high-value, team-based models of care.

 

Brynn Rubinstein, MPH: Brynn Rubinstein, MPH, is a consultant with 15 years of experience building and scaling up women’s health programs with nonprofits, health care delivery systems, and companies. Prior to consulting, she launched and led the Transform Maternity Care program at the Purchaser Business Group on Health (PBGH), an initiative focused on improving birth outcomes through midwifery access and value-based payment reform. She has also worked at Kaiser Permanente and the Association of Maternal Child Health Programs. She co-authored PBGH’s How To Successfully Integrate Midwives Into Your Practice.

 

Claudia Jennings:  Claudia Jennings is a midwifery and birth center operations consultant with Primary Maternity Care with over seven years of birth center experience. She has particular expertise in contracting, billing, and operationalizing innovative payment models specific to out-of-hospital birth. In her previous role as administrative director of a large, multi-site freestanding birth center, she specialized in taking a team-based approach to managing the center and advancing the midwifery model of care.

 

Blair Dudley, MPH Blair Dudley, MPH, is the Director of the Transform Maternity Care Program at the Purchaser Business Group on Health (PBGH). In this role, Blair works with prominent purchaser, payer, provider, and consumer stakeholder organizations to advance the quality of maternal health care. She provides strategic leadership to promote high-value, equitable maternity strategies including reducing C-section rates, expanding the use of midwives, doulas, and birth centers, increasing screening and treatment of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, spreading value-based payment, and engaging consumers in care.
