INTERMITTENT AUSCULTATION (IA) EDUCATION
We continued to provide education on IA through our Intermittent Auscultation Simulation-Based Education online module. PQI has partnered with multiple states and organizations to continue to educate even more learners.
We partnered with the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) to bring IA education to a wider audience.
Over 2600 have purchased our IA module, as of May 2023.
SPEAK UP PROGRAM
We hosted four SPEAK UP Champion Conferences so far in 2023 and have more planned for later in the year. We also hosted two SPEAK UP Ambassador Conferences in 2023 and are scheduled to host a Faculty Course later this year.
As of May 2023, we have more than 1400 SPEAK UP Champions from 36 states.
We stayed in touch with 22 of our SPEAK UP Champions through a Zoom Check-In Meeting in October 2022 and another one in March 2023.
We partnered with the Healthcare Georgia Foundation to provide anti-racism education to perinatal healthcare providers in the state of Georgia through online modules and SPEAK UP Conferences. We supported the equity efforts of many states and organizations including the Oklahoma Department of Health, The Perinatal-Neonatal Quality Improvement Network of Massachusetts (MA PNQIN), Atrium Health and the Pennsylvania Perinatal Quality Collaborative (PA PQC).
2023’s 28 Day Anti-Racism Challenge had over 1700 participants!
INNOVATION WEBINARS
PQI continued to host free quarterly webinars for our community on topics relating to perinatal health including:
Missed Nursing Care on Labor & Delivery During the Pandemic with Joyce Edmonds, Ph.D., MPH, RN, Stacey Iobst, Ph.D., RNC-OB, CNE, Erin George, MSN, CNM and Debra Bingham, DrPH, RN, FAAN.
Integrating the Freestanding Birth Center Model with Hospital Services with Amy Romano, MBA, MSN, CNM, FACNM, Brynn Rubinstein, MPH, Claudia Jennings and Blair Dudley, MPH.
SUPPORTING STATE AND NATIONAL QUALITY IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS
- PQI'S Founder and CEO, Dr. Debra Bingham's monthly "From the Desk of" email letter to the PQI community continued to highlight current events in perinatal health and updates from PQI.
- We continued to connect with our community through social media and email newsletters.
- We grew to become a community of more than 20,000 people!
IN THE PRESS
- Dr. Bingham was an invited speaker at the National Governor's Association meeting in Detroit.
- In her letter, published on January 6, 2023 in The Boston Globe, Dr. Bingham highlights the grievous errors and negligence outlined by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) which led to preventable injuries and deaths, including the death of her son, Dr. David K. Jones. In the letter, she implores Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey to improve the safety of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) by making it a High Reliability Organization. Approximately 350,000 lives depend on the MBTA each day. In addition, on May 8, 2023 Dr. Bingham submitted testimony to the Massachusetts Legislation's Joint Committee on Transportation.
